Bowls Day in Canada to Partner with ParticipACTION 150 Play List

Ottawa, ON. | Jan. 23rd, 2017

Bowls Canada Boulingrin, in partnership with ParticipACTION, are excited to announce that Lawn Bowls is one of the activities involved in Canada’s ultimate 150 Play List!  This list was created by Canadians for Canadians by voting for the most popular Canadian sports and physical activities to help celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.  Throughout 2017, every Canadian from coast to coast will be challenged to complete as many physical activities on the list as possible, track their efforts online and earn rewards to win amazing prices.

As part of the ParticipACTION 150 Play List initiatives, Bowls Canada is promoting a national Bowls Day in Canada on Saturday June 3rd, 2017.  This is an opportunity for Provincial Bowls Associations and affiliated clubs to encourage Canadians to check Lawn Bowls off their ParticipACTION 150 Play List by visiting their local bowls clubs on June 3rd.  Events could include (but are not limited to): try-bowls events, fund raisers, social tournaments, open houses, etc.  Bowls Canada Boulingrin will be coordinating a campaign to help clubs and provincial associations capitalize on this opportunity. Stay tuned for more details!
ParticipACTION recently launched a series of resources to help community organizations participate in the 150 Play List.  By registering your Bowls Day in Canada event or program you can opt-in to receive an Event Celebration Kit containing signage, prizes, or possibly a feature on the ParticipACTION Tour Stops & Event Page.  You may even qualify for a micro-grant to support your event. Micro-grants are available on a first-come-first-served basis, so sign up your event today!

Encourage Canadians to try bowls on Saturday June 3rd!

About the ParticipACTION 150 Play List
To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, ParticipACTION is creating the ParticipACTION 150 Play List - the ultimate list of all the physical activities that make us Canadian. Throughout 2017 every Canadian, in all communities, schools and workplaces from coast to coast to coast, will be challenged to complete as many physical activities on the list as possible, track their efforts online and earn rewards along the way. The ParticipACTION 150 Play List is a collaborative effort supported by the Government of Canada, premier corporate partners Manulife, Chevrolet and Shaw, the Government of B.C. and national media partner Corus.
