Youth Bowlers Begin Play in Dartmouth

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia | August 1st, 2017


Play has begun at the 2017 Canadian Junior Championships in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. 17 boys and 12 girls from across Canada have come to Dartmouth to compete for the title of National Under 18 champion.


In the A pool, the boys played three rounds on the opening day. Owen Kirby (Ontario) and Trevor Birrell (BC) won all three of their games to sit in first and second place in their pool.


In the B pool, the boys played four rounds throughout the day. Jason Valchar (BC), Jake Masterson (ON) and Braeden Campbell (NS) all have three wins to sit atop the B pool.  

On the girls’ side, only two rounds were played on day one. In pool C, Jordan Kos (SK) and Emma Boyd (BC) displayed dominant performances to lead the pack with 2-0 records. In pool D, Baylee Van Steijn (ON) sits at the top after winning both of her games.


Action will resume on August 2nd at 8:45am local time. Several games will also be live-streamed throughout the day. Tune into to view the action.

About Canadian Junior Championships
The Canadian Junior Championships are an annual outdoor championship that feature Men’s and Women’s Singles.  Eligible athletes must be 18 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2017.  The 2017 Canadian Junior and Under 25 Championships will be hosted at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia from July 31st – August 7th.
