Ottawa, ON | October 21, 2019
The 2019 Canadian Indoor Singles Championships will be held at the Pacific Indoor Bowls Club (PIBC) in Vancouver, BC from October 21-26, 2019. 12 men and 12 women from across Canada will compete for the right to represent Canada at the World Bowls Indoor Championships in April 2020 in England.
Defending champions Hirendra Bhartu (BC) and Josephine Lee (BC) will be the favourites going into the event, but they will have some stiff competition to face. Standing in Bhartu’s way will be Senior Squad athlete Pat Bird, as well as 2017’s Outdoor Singles Champion Jerome Kirby (MB). On the women’s side, 2019 Outdoor Singles finalists Bobbi-Jean Charlton (BC) and Cathy Larking (ON) will be looking to find their way back to the podium, while Development Squad athlete Jennifer MacDonald (AB) will be looking to claim gold for her own.
The 11 game round robin will start at 9am on October 22nd, with the finals wrapping up on October 26th. The winner of the men’s singles and the winner of the women’s singles will represent Canada in 2020 at the newly revised World Bowls Indoor Championships. The international event will feature men’s and women’s singles, as well as a mixed pairs event.
