Calgary, Alberta | September 17th, 2018
The 2018 Canadian Senior Triples Championships have come to a close at the Calgary Lawn Bowling Club.
After four days of round robin play in extremely cold weather, it was clear who would advance to the medal matches. On the men’s side, BC-A was at the top with an 8-1 record, while ON-B was just behind at 7-2. Saskatchewan and BC-B would face each other in the bronze medal match. On the women’s side, BC-A went undefeated to finish at 9-0. AB-B finished second with a 6-2-1 record. AB-A and MB would face each other in the bronze game.
Despite the near zero degree temperatures, the medal rounds were a hotly contested affair. In the men’s gold medal match, BC-A proved too much for ON-B, as the men finished with a 19-7 score. In the men’s bronze match, it came down to the wire with BC-B narrowly claiming the victory over SK, 15-11.
In the women’s gold medal match, it was a nail biter of a finish as AB-B would ensure it was not an all BC-A gold medal affair. AB-B came out on top 11-10. In the bronze medal match, AB-A would secure a second medal for Alberta, taking the win 21-11 over Manitoba.
