Ottawa, ON | August 20th, 2019
The 2019 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships are set to begin. This year’s Championships are taking place across two venues: the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club in Burlington, ON and the Heritage Greens Lawn Bowling Club in Kitchener, Ontario.
Men’s and women’s pairs and fours competition will take place in Burlington from August 20-25, while men’s and women’s singles competition will take place in Kitchener from Aug 26-30.
This year’s championship will feature several of Canada’s Senior Squad members, including Pricilla Westlake (BC), Greg Wilson (AB), Jon Pituley (SK), Jordan Kos (SK), David-James Smith (QC), Jackie Foster (NS) and Braeden Campbell (NS). As well, there will be several Development Squad members attending, such as Brandon and Carter Watson (SK), John Bezear (ON), Cathy Larking (ON), and Jennifer MacDonald (AB). With such a packed field, the 2019 Championship titles will be hotly contested.
Senior Squad Head Coach, Terry Scott, will be in attendance to observe these championships, as will Youth and Development Squad coach, Darryl Fitzgerald. After a successful showing at the Asia-Pacific Championships earlier this year in Australia, Scott will be eager to see how the Canadian team players battle it out against each other on the greens in Canada. Fitzgerald will be sure to have his eyes on both current and future potential Development Squad members. With the Singles being held at Fitzgerald’s home club, the Youth and Development Squad coach will be in for a busy week.
