2019 Multi-Nations Team Announced

Ottawa, ON | September 19th, 2019

 

Ten Canadian lawn bowlers have been selected to represent Canada at the 2019 Multi-Nations Invitational event in Gold Coast, Australia from November 18-24, 2019. The event will take place at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club, and Club Helensvale. The competition, a test event for the 2020 World Bowls Championships.

This competition is an important part of Bowls Canada’s preparation for success in 2020 and they will be looking to build on their success at the 2019 Asia Pacific Championships.  “As we progress towards the 2020 World Championships, this Multi-Nations competition is another opportunity for us to evaluate our program and preparation for this level of competition” said National Coach Terry Scott. “With a number of the major countries participating, it will give us a good indication of our progress and how we compare on the international stage at this point”.

Men’s Singles:

Women’s Singles:

Kelly McKerihen (Toronto, ON)

Women’s Pairs: 

Kelly McKerihen, Joanna Cooper (Calgary, AB)

Women’s Triples:

Leanne Chinery (Victoria, BC), Jordan Kos (Regina, SK), Jackie Foster (Bridgetown, NS)

Women’s Fours:

Leanne Chinery, Jordan Kos, Joanna Cooper, Jackie Foster

           

Supporting the team is head coach, Terry Scott, alongside Derek Dillon (Alberta), as well as Raelene Peters. Peters, acting as a consultant for the Canadian squad, is a recognized international level coach from New Zealand.

 

About 2019 Multi-Nations Invitational
The 2019 Multi-Nations Invitational will take place on the Gold Coast, Queensland from November 18 to 24 and feature teams from 7 countries. The event will be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Club Helensvale and Musgrave Hill Bowls Club.  The 2019 Multi-Nations is a preparation event for the World Bowls Championships 2020 which will also be held at the same venues in May and June next year.
