Bowls Canada President Elected to World Bowls Board

Ottawa (ON) | June 12, 2020

Ian Howard, President of Bowls Canada Boulingrin, has recently been elected to the World Bowls Board of Directors. Howard replaces USA’s Scott Roberts as Regional Director for the Americas (including the Caribbean) Region.

In addition to President John Bell (England) and appointed Director Hazel Wilson (Wales), the World Bowls Board is made up of 5 Regional Directors, as follows:

Howard joins Clout and Baker as new additions to the Board.


Howard is currently a member of the Burlington LBC in Ontario and has served the sport of bowls at multiple levels. He is a past Director and President of the Oakville Lawn Bowling Club in Ontario, a past Director of the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association (OLBA), founder of the OLBA Hall of Fame, and co-founder (with Mike Bester) of the Ontario Premier League. He has also been a member of the Bowls Canada Board since 2016 serving as a Director, Vice-President and most recently as President. 


“While I look forward to the new challenges World Bowls presents, I am going to miss my board colleagues and my frequent meetings with Anna Mees, our BCB Executive Director,” said Howard. “My time of service with Bowls Canada has been rewarding on many levels, and my thanks go to all with whom I have interacted over the years. It is my fervent hope we will remain in touch on and off the green.”

The World Bowls Board of Directors commence their duties on June 1st, 2020 and Howard will step down from his role as President of Bowls Canada when his term concludes in September 2020.
