The final event of the week-long Championships in Fredericton saw the Under 25 competitors hit the green. This year the event featured a head to head best of three matchup format to decide the champion.
On the Women’s side, it was Katie Patenaude from Ontario taking on British Columbia’s Jaymee Sidel. In the first matchup, Patenaude took control and the early lead with a three set win (5-10, 13-3, 3-2). Sidel bounced back in the second matchup and even the match with a three set win of her own (8-5, 5-11, 6-1). In the third and deciding match, Sidel proved too much as she won in straight sets (10-2, 7-7) to capture the 2013 Canadian Under 25 Women’s Championship.
On the Men’s side, it was Alex LeBlanc from Ontario taking on the hometown favorite Thomas Batty from New Brunswick. This matchup was close right from the opening bowl. LeBlanc took the first matchup in straight sets (5-5, 11-4). In the second it was more of the same as LeBlanc again took it in straight sets (8-3, 11-2) to capture the 2013 Canadian Under 25 Men’s Championship.

Congratulations to all of the participants. Should Canada receive an invitation to the Tiger Bowls Competition in March 2014, Jaymee and Alex as winners of the 2013 Under 25 Championships will be included as members of a Canadian Development Team for that event.
