Bowls Canada Boulingrin is excited to announce that the Commonwealth Lawn Bowling Club will be the host of the Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships in August 2016. 180 athletes will compete in pairs, triples and fours during the week long competition.
The Commonwealth Lawn Bowling Club is located in North West Edmonton, in the midst of busy Coronation Park. The club proudly hosted the 1978 Commonwealth bowls tournament and was honoured to have Queen Elizabeth observe the Games. The club has also had the privilege of hosting many Provincial Tournaments as well as previous National events including the 2014 Singles Championship. One of the largest facilities of its kind in Canada, the club has four beautifully maintained greens to play on.
The exact dates of the Championship are still to be confirmed but the Commonwealth LBC is already getting started. “ We are very pleased that Alberta has the opportunity to host another Canadian Championship in Edmonton in 2016,” said Grady Long, President of the Lawn Bowls Association of Alberta, “as was proven at the 2014 Singles Championships, Commonwealth Lawn Bowling Club will be an excellent host making available their outstanding facilities of four greens and a cozy and fully licensed clubhouse. Having hosted the last Majors here in 2010 we look forward to welcoming lawn bowlers from across Canada back to sunny Alberta.”
