Play wrapped up at the Nutana Lawn Bowling Club in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Monday with the finals of the Under 25 Championship. Athletes, support staff and fans experienced excellent hospitality throughout the competition and there was no better way to cap off the week than with some incredible finals.
Congratulations to Pricilla Westlake of British Columbia, who won the gold medal 21-14 over Sydney Boyd of Saskatchewan. Westlake finished the round robin with a 5-1 record, with her only loss coming in the final game in a nail-biting 21-20 win by Boyd.
In the bronze medal game, it was Jaymee Sidel of British Columbia who defeated Stirling Wood of Ontario by a score of 21-11. Pricilla Westlake, Sydney Boyd, Stirling Wood and Jaymee Sidel have been named to the
Bowls Canada Youth Development Squad for a one-year term.
On the men’s side, it was Grant Wilkie of Saskatchewan who was crowned the Under 25 Champion winning 21 - 8 over Nathan Jacobucci of Manitoba in the final. Wilkie went undefeated in round robin play, narrowly beating Jacobucci 21-20 to clinch top spot.
Congratulations to Lucas Caldwell of Ontario, who won the bronze medal 21-18 over Michael Pituley of Saskatchewan. Grant Wilkie, Nathan Jacobucci, Lucas Caldwell and Michael Pituley have been named to the Bowls Canada Youth Development Squad for a one-year term.
Westlake and Wilkie will be nominated as a Canadian entry to the 2016 World Junior Championships hosted in Queensland Australia.
