BCB Bids a Heartfelt Farewell to Don Caswell as High-Performance Manager
Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is saddened to announce that, after 17 years of dedicated service to the sport of lawn bowls in various roles, Don Caswell recently retired from his position as High-Performance Manager.
Since his time as BCB staff member, Don has contributed significantly to the Canadian High-Performance Program and dedicated so much of his time to the athletes. Don always went above and beyond to make sure athletes were not only prepared for competitions but continued to pursue new and innovative opportunities for play for Canadian athletes. Don was a key player in organizing and developing the inaugural Atlantic International Challenge between Canada, USA, Scotland, and Ireland which took place in Scotland this past August.
National Team Head Coach, Derek Dillon, who worked closely with the High-Performance Manager said, “Don Caswell has been an integral part of the High-Performance Program which has seen advancements over his tenure to not only improve the performance of Team Canada athletes on the International stage but, help individuals within the program become more professional, knowledgeable and prepared for life. His attention to detail has enhanced the preparation of athletes and coaches alike within Canada and the World to achieve many objectives across international events. His long history within the program has enabled Team Canada to have a bright future moving forward.”
Echoing Dillon’s sentiment, Ryan Stadnyk, High-Performance Committee Chair, has seen the direct impact Don played in the sport of Lawn Bowls. “I have had the honour to work with Don both as an Athlete and Volunteer on the High-Performance Program”, says Ryan. “Don was the driving force behind making our HP program one of the most respected in the bowling community. I haven’t come across a person that has so much passion for our sport than Don has. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Don over the past 20 years. The HPC will have to work twice as hard to maintain the level of professionalism Don brought to our program.”
We at Bowls Canada, at the lawn bowling community at large, send our sincere thanks to Don for all the hard work, dedication, passion, and bowls knowledge that he has brought to this organization for the past two decades. We wish you all the best in your retirement and look forward to hearing about all your future adventures, on and off greens!
