Bowls Development Assistant

Location: Ottawa, ON (National Office)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Wage: $19/hour
Term: 13 weeks
Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2026 (ending August 31, 2026)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bowls Development Assistant will support the development, implementation, and communication of inclusive sport programs at Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB). This role focuses on increasing participation in lawn bowls among children, youth, seniors, and individuals with disabilities (ParaBowls), while contributing to national initiatives and community engagement efforts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development & Delivery

  • Support the implementation and evaluation of youth programs designed to introduce children and youth to lawn bowls in a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate way.
  • Assist in building partnerships with local summer camps and school programs.
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of programs for seniors, including partnerships with community resource centres and seniors’ organizations.

Inclusion & Accessibility Initiatives

  • Collaborate on the development of the “You Belong in Bowls” and “Para Bowls” initiatives.
  • Assist with awareness campaigns and creation of resources that promote inclusive, safe, and accessible program delivery.

Events & Community Engagement

  • Contribute to initiatives that highlight the benefits of lawn bowls, particularly for seniors (social, physical, emotional, and cognitive health).

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist in marketing, communications, and promotional projects.
  • Contribute to campaigns aimed at increasing awareness and participation in lawn bowls programs.

Customer Service & General Support

  • Provide general customer service and administrative support as required.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support organizational objectives.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (CANADA SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM)

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada, including having a valid Social Insurance Number

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Interest in sport development, community programming, and inclusion
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for promoting physical activity and community engagement
  • Oral/written fluency in both official languages is considered an asset

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Based at the BCB National Office in Ottawa
  • May include occasional evening or weekend activities tied to events or programming

Regional Coach (Ontario)

Overview:

The Regional Coach is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Regional Coach is
responsible for assisting Bowls Canada’s National Coaches and the High-Performance Committee in
the identification and development of athletes in the Learn to Compete and Train to Compete stages
of development in the province of Ontario.

The successful candidate recognizes the important role that quality programs such as the NCCP,
Long-Term Athlete Development Plan, (LTAD), and various other Bowls Canada programs play in
developing bowlers, and the High-Performance Program in general. The ideal candidate is enthused
and motivated by the opportunity to develop athletes.

Terms and Conditions:

Volunteer Position
June 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with an option to renew for the 2027 outdoor playing season

High Performance Program Team Manager

BCB is looking for a High Performance Program (HPP) Team Manager for the 2026 & 2027 international seasons!

This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role supporting Canada’s top athletes as they compete at major events including:

  • 2026 Commonwealth Games (Scotland)
  • 2026 Atlantic International Challenge (Ireland)
  • 2027 World Championships (England)

As Team Manager, you’ll work alongside national coaches and staff to ensure athletes are fully supported – on and off the green.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate travel, logistics, and team operations
  • Support athletes and coaches at international events
  • Serve as a key communication link across the HP program
  • Help create a high-performance, inclusive team environment

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience working in team or sport environments
  • Commitment to safe sport and athlete-centered values
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, international settings
