Canada Narrowly Misses Playoffs at Hong Kong Classic

The 2013 Hong Kong Classic has wrapped up and the Canada has narrowly missed out on a medal.
The team of Mary Ann Beath and Marg Lepere finished 4th in Group C play with a final record of 17 points. Canada finished behind Phoenix, England and group winner Australia.
Canada finished off the event with impressive performances against Singapore and Hong Kong FC winning each match with 3-0 and 2-1 records respectively. Canada finished the event winning 6 of their 11 matches for a total of 11.5 pts.
Canada earned victories over Hong Kong Youth Development Team, Club de Recreio, Craigengower Cricket Club, United Services Recreation Club, Singapore and Hong Kong Football Club.
In the playoff rounds, the knockout portion began with England and Scotland coming away victorious with both nations earning spots in the semi finals. The first semi saw England face the powerhouse Aussies, with the second semi featuring Scotland and New Zealand.
Both matches were close but Australia (11-4,7-5) and New Zealand (10-8,10-7) advanced to the finals. In the final, the team from Australia proved to be to much as they defeated New Zealand 13-5,15-7 to win the 2013 Hong Kong Classic.
