Canada Represented at Champion of Champions

Ottawa, ON. | Nov. 10th, 2016

Harriette Pituley of Regina, Saskatchewan and John Bjornson of Winnipeg, Manitoba won the Canadian Singles Championships in September 2015 and gained the right to represent Canada at the 2016 World Champion of Champions event in Queensland, Australia.  “Winning a Canadian singles title has been on my bucket list for a long time” stated Pituley.

Pituley and Bjornson have been preparing for this prestigious event all season.  This past Saturday Bjornson won the silver medal at the 2016 Indoor Singles Championships at the PIBC in Vancouver. Bjornson stated “the pace of the green is the closest thing in Canada to the pace of Club Helensvale in Australia and has been a great warm up”.

There will be tough competition throughout the week for both Pituley and Bjornson, as they face competitors from England, Scotland and Malaysia. “I look forward to the challenge and the experience I will gain” stated Pituley. “It will be an honour to wear the maple leaf on our backs” said Bjornson.

This international tournament begins on November 14th and concludes on November 20th at Club Helensvale for the second year in a row.  This event features 27 nations, with the men and women divisions split into two sections with eleven in each.
