Canadians Represented at Champion of Champions

Queensland, Australia | November 13, 2015

Jean Roney of Saskatchewan and Alfred Wallace of Alberta will be representing Canada at the 2015 World Champion of Champions in Queensland, Australia from November 16th to 22nd, 2015.

Roney and Wallace won the Canadian Singles Championship in June 2014 and gained the right to represent Canada at this prestigious event.  The pair arrived in Australia with enough time to get acclimatized and practise on the Australian fast greens.  Wallace, a member of the men’s Canadian national team has been training with coach Greg Dolsky through an excellent program to help build confidence to compete against these high level athletes.  Wallace is hoping his hard work and dedication will lead to winning a medal before he makes the short trip to New Zealand for the Asia Pacific Championship.

Keith Roney who will be attending the Champion of Champions in a coaching capacity will support our Canadian athletes.  Roney is looking to draw on his own bowls experience to provide encouragement and support throughout the championship.

There will be tough competition throughout the week of bowls for both Roney and Wallace, but they are prepared to play their hardest.  With over a year having passed since they won the Canadian Championships, they are ready to start playing and show the world that Canada can compete.
