Club Coach

Required to take:

  • Bowls Club Coach Workshop (contact PSO to learn more)
  • NCCP Emergency Action Plan (Visit here to learn more)
  • One of BCB Approved Safe Sport Courses
    • NCCP Safe Sport, OR
    • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders

Competition Coach

There are 2 designations for this coach: Trained and Certified. Trained means you have taken all of the required courses, while Certified means you have demonstrated you have the required competencies by having an Evaluator observe you. We recommend coaches become Trained first, and then proceed to Certified.

To be Trained, coaches are required to take:

  • Bowls Competition Coach Workshop (contact PSO to learn more)
  • NCCP Teaching & Learning (Visit here to learn more)
  • NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (Visit here to learn more)
  • NCCP Basic Mental Skills (Visit here to learn more)
  • NCCP Emergency Action Plan (Visit here to learn more)
  • One of BCB Approved Safe Sport Courses
    • NCCP Safe Sport, OR
    • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders


To be Certified, coaches are required to take:

  • NCCP Make Ethical Decisions – Online Evaluation (Visit www.coach.ca to learn more)
  • Submit a portfolio to an Evaluator, consisting of practice plans, athlete profiles, coach profiles, and an Emergency Action Plan
  • Be formally observed by an Evaluator while running a practice
  • Contact BCB to receive evaluation documents and be paired with an Evaluator

Competition Coach - Certified
