National Bowls Day 2022 Winners Announced

Saturday June 4th, 2022 marked the national celebration for lawn bowling across Canada where clubs across the country invited their communities to drop by and give lawn bowls a try!  After two tough years of pandemic conditions, participants were thrilled to be back in person for National Bowls Day 2022.  The day was marked with tournaments, open houses, and novelty competitions such as the “Bowls Winter Olympics” (hosted at Nepean Lawn Bowls Club in Ottawa, Ontario).

Bowls equipment distributor MVP Sports was once again the official sponsor for National Bowls Day.  “MVP Sports have been with us since the beginning of this event and we were thrilled to have their support again this year,” said Bowls Canada CEO Anna Mees.  “Supporters like Dan and Brenda Milligan of MVP Sports are so important to the success of National Bowls Day and we are very appreciative of their dedication and generousity.”

All registered clubs were entered into a draw to win one of five MVP Sports prize packs of two Ubi-Launchers ® — a bowls delivery aid that increases the accessibility of the game for those with mobility impairments.  This year’s club winners are:

This year’s virtual contest winners won a coaching session from the Delivery Doctor® — MVP Sport’s in house expert in delivery aid and a Bowls Canada t-shirt. This winners are: Larry Chaput, Ken Armstrong, Sandra Victoria, and Bex Foley.

The winner of the final contest of Bowls Day 2022 was Muskoka Lawn Bowling Club in Ontario.  They were entered into a random draw for a Bowls Canada Learn to Bowl Kit after posting a photo of their Bowls Day event and tagging Bowls Canada.

All clubs who registered received support from Bowls Canada in the form of a virtual promotion toolkit and were able to participate in webinars that stepped club volunteers through the various communication pieces and how to personalize them for their events.
