Ryan Stadnyk steps up as Interim High-Performance Manager

BCB is thrilled to announce Ryan Stadnyk, Chair of BCB’s High-Performance Committee, as Interim High-Performance Manager for the next months. “The High-Performance Program has evolved significantly since my time as an athlete. Thanks to Don [Caswell] and the HPC members, the program is now one of the most respected in the bowling community. I hope to continue the work he started and build on it”, expresses Stadnyk.

Ryan has had a spectacular career in the sport of lawn bowling. He has competed in 8 Major Canadian Championships in which he earned a bronze medal (1999 men fours), 3 silver medals (2009 men’s pairs, 2012 men’s fours and 2016 men’s triples), and lastly 2 gold medals (2003 men’s singles and 2004 at the indoor championships). Internationally, Ryan was a member of the High-Performance Squad for over a decade between 2004-2018. During his tenure on the team, he competed at the 2004 World Champion of Champions (Australia), 2004 WIBC World Indoor Singles (Ireland), 2007 Atlantic Championships (Scotland), 2016 World Bowls Championship (New Zealand), 2017 Multi Nations Tournament (Australia), and 2018 Commonwealth Games (Australia).

After his retirement from the High-Performance Squad, Ryan was asked to join BCB’s High-Performance Committee in 2019. Ryan took on the role as he has a unique experience that could make a meaningful impact, “I realized that my experiences and knowledge could contribute significantly to the committee, not only in selecting athletes for the squads but also in shaping a program that would benefit athletes nationwide.” In 2021, Ryan was approached by BCB’s CEO and High-Performance Manager to take up the role of Chairperson.

BCB would like to thank Ryan for stepping into this interim role and continued work, as we head into a very exciting and busy 18-month period for Canada’s High-Performance.
