Bowls Canada Announces Port Credit LBC & James Garden LBC as Co-hosts for the 2022 Youth Championships

Ottawa (ON)

Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is pleased to announce Port Credit Lawn Bowling Club and James Garden Lawn Bowling Club will co-host the 2022 Canadian Youth Championships. The event is expected to take place from July 31 – August 6, 2022.

Featuring an Under 18 division and an Under 25 division for both men and women, the Youth Championships are BCB’s marquee event for up-and-coming lawn bowlers in Canada. Given the built-up demand for competition after the previous two seasons without national championships, this should be the largest Youth Championship in recent memory.

Port Credit LBC chair Rob Galipeau and James Garden LBC chair Ralph Ellis are eager to host the first national event since 2019.

Said Galipeau, “It is an honour to be able to kick off the Bowls Canada Championship season by hosting all the future stars of our sport! Fans of bowls in Southern Ontario will be in for a treat watching these talented athletes compete for National Championships.

James Gardens and Port Credit each have a long successful history of hosting significant bowls events at the district, provincial and national levels. So to collaborate on this special occasion seems like a perfect opportunity for both clubs!”

Ellis had this to say, “We are looking forward to following the high level of competition and enthusiasm of the Youth competitors in the singles and pairs events. We invite bowlers and non bowlers to come to Port Credit and James Gardens to cheer the players on.”

MVP Sports continues to support the Youth Championships, providing major prizes for the youth champions, U18 goody packages, and a BBQ/Pizza gathering for all players – as they have done for over 20 years.

As the official awards and recognition supplier for BCB, Nothers The Award Store will provide all medals and awards for the event.
