Bowls Canada Bylaw Amendments Receive Unanimous Support
Ottawa (ON)
After extensive review of the existing Bowls Canada bylaws, the Bowls Canada Governance Committee and Board of Directors have recommended numerous amendments. These recommendations allow the bylaws to align with recommended best practices and reflect the evolution of the organization over the last ten years.
At the Bowls Canada AGM on September 19th, the bylaws were voted in after unanimous support was received from members. The updated bylaws can be found here including bylaw 5.1 which replaces the role of President with “Chair” and removes the role of Vice-President on the Bowls Canada Board of Directors.
The voting delegates (representatives of the Provincial Associations) also returned all four incumbents (Laura Seed, Don Caswell, Dennis Verge and Jeffrey Harding) to their Director roles for another two year-term. With the changes in the bylaws, Directors will be elected to three-year terms starting in 2022. At the first meeting of the new Board of Directors, Kathryn MacGregor was appointed Chair, Dennis Verge appointed Treasurer and Anne Mathewson appointed to the office of Secretary. Rounding out the Board are Directors Cathy Selzler, Chris Stadnyk and Trevor Pohle.
“The updated bylaws enable the Bowls Canada organization to be in a better position to meet future challenges and incorporate best governance principles and practices into everyday operation,“ said BCB’s Chair Kathryn MacGregor.
The organization recognizes that governance is an ongoing challenge, and the Governance Committee will continue to evaluate and make recommendations as necessary.
