Bowls Canada Announces Victoria LBC as Host for the 2022 Canadian Senior Triples Championships

Ottawa (ON)

Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is pleased to announce Victoria Lawn Bowling Club will host the 2022 Canadian Senior Triples Championships. The event is expected to take place from September 21 – September 25, 2022.

The Senior Triples Championships will feature 10 teams of three bowlers who have reached the age of 65 in 2022, in both a men’s division and a women’s division. With a large portion of Canada’s participants falling in this senior age-bracket, this event is frequently one of the most popular titles on the competition docket.

“The Victoria Lawn Bowling Club is honoured and very excited to be named as the host club for the prestigious 2022 Canadian Senior Triples Championships,” said Gopala Gowda, chair of the host organizing committee. “This event will provide a tremendous opportunity to showcase lawn bowling at its highest level. Not only will these championships help promote the bowls community throughout Vancouver Island, they will also bring prestige to the City of Victoria. Victoria LBC was established in 1909 and is the oldest lawn bowling club in Victoria. It’s the perfect location for a prestigious national event, and the members of Victoria LBC are deeply committed to ensuring the competitors enjoy every aspect of their stay in Victoria.”

With a senior demographic descending on the Victoria club for a week, the safety of all participants and volunteers will be paramount. The event will see increased safety mechanisms in place to keep COVID-19 at bay such as increased cleaning and sanitizing.  Further measures for 2022 will include the elimination of sanctioned social events, no centralized accommodation and no organized shared transportation.  While these measures will be a significant change from previous years, they were deemed necessary to ensure the likelihood of having safe competitions in 2022. Further COVID-specific requirements will be determined closer to the event in consultation with local public health authorities.

As the official awards and recognition supplier for BCB, Nothers The Award Store will provide all medals and awards for the event.
