Casey Donnelly Departs Bowls Canada

Ottawa, ON

Communications and Safe Sport Coordinator Casey Donnelly is departing the organization for a new challenge with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans effective March 11, 2022.

Despite only two years in the position, Donnelly leaves behind an enduring legacy in the area of communications.  As the lead on the website updating project, Donnelly spearheaded a new look and feel for Bowls Canada’s website in an easy to navigate format that also represented BCB’s core values.  Instrumental in the creation of an online resource section for Bowls Canada stakeholder clubs and provincial associations, she has also been busy on the development of an e-commerce site which will launch shortly.  She established a consistent approach to Bowls Canada’s e-newsletter and online blog that saw engagement steadily rise throughout the last two years.

In addition to Communications, Donnelly has been the lead on BCB’s Safe Sport Strategy implementation which includes Belonging in Bowls a club accreditation program aimed at empowering clubs to create welcoming and safe spaces. As the coordinator of this program, Donnelly has helped 71 local bowls clubs take their first steps in becoming a Belonging in Bowls champion.

“Casey has become an important part of the Bowls Canada family during her time with the organization and we wish her all the best in this next chapter of her journey,” said CEO Anna Mees.  “We will miss Casey’s passion for finding creative solutions and her determined optimism, but are confident that the legacies she leaves will continue to set us up for success in our communications and safe sport implementation.”

Bowls Canada will begin the search for a new Communications and Safe Sport Coordinator  effective immediately.
