Jansen and Evans Claim Gold in Qualicum Beach
Qualicum Beach, British Columbia | September 17th 2018
The 2018 Mixed Pairs Championships have crowned a winner: Brent Jansen and Karen Evans from British Columbia.
After three days of round robin play, Jansen and Evans found themselves atop the leaderboard at 8-1. Close behind was Alberta’s Keith Wylie and Shannon Roden, who sat at 7-2. New Brunswick’s Pat Beggs and Eleanor Murray would face off for bronze with Manitoba’s Ed Mulholland and Brenda Frank.
In the gold medal game, it was a tightly fought match between BC-B and AB. In the end, Jansen and Evans would just get across the finish line with a 16-13 victory. In the bronze match, it was a high scoring affair as MB and NB held nothing back. Trading blows back and forth, it was Manitoba that would walk away with the bronze medal, 22-16.
