Two Bowlers Officially Selected to Represent Canada at the 2024 IIBC World Junior Championship in Hong Kong
Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is excited to announce the athletes selected to represent Canada at the upcoming IIBC World Junior Championships.
The International Indoor Bowls Council (IIBC) annually hosts the U25 Junior Indoor Championships, bringing together young athletes from national lawn bowling organizations around the world. Athletes will compete in men’s and women’s singles, as well as the mixed pairs events. The 2024 IIBC World Junior Championship will be hosted in Hong Kong, China, from December 2nd to 8th, 2024.
Athletes were selected for this prestigious opportunity after submitting an expression of interest to a BCB Selection Panel. BCB extends its thanks to all bowlers who applied.
BCB is proud to announce that Emma Boyd and Owen Kirby have been selected to represent Canada at this international event.
Emma Boyd, national team squad athlete, will compete at the World Junior Championships once again (previously attended in 2017 and 2019), but is not new to the international stage. Coming off an impressive performance at the inaugural Atlantic International Challenge in August, Emma is proving to be a rising star in the sport. She has obtained some great accolades within the sport in the past few years, including bronze in women’s triples at the 2023 World Bowls Championships as well as a number of podium finishes around Queensland, Australia. We are excited to cheer her on as she aims for the podium once again!
Owen Kirby, no stranger to competitive bowls, will be joining Emma in representing Canada. Having competed in the U25 IIBC World Junior Championship in both 2017 and 2022, Owen is well-prepared for the challenge ahead. Most recently, Owen brought home two gold medals in Men’s singles and Men’s Pairs at the 2024 Canadian Championships in August. We know that Owen is ready to leave it all on the greens and we cannot wait to rally behind him in December!
