2015 Canadian Mixed Pairs Championships Headed to Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club

Fredericton, New Brunswick | October 20, 2014

PA190379.JPGBowls Canada Boulingrin is excited to announce that the Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club will be the host of the 2015 Canadian Mixed Pairs Championships from September 14-19, 2015.  The co-chairs for the event are Pat Beggs and Michele Olscamp.

After learning Fredericton was selected to host the event, Frances Meehan, president of Bowls New Brunswick Boulingrin was thrilled; “It is an honour for Bowls New Brunswick Boulingrin to host this prestigious event and showcase the facilities at Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club and the beautiful Capital of New Brunswick.  We are proud to welcome all competitors and visitors to experience our maritime hospitality”.

Fredericton hosted the Mixed Pairs Championships in 2007 as well as the Canadian Juniors and U25 Championships in 2013.  Some of Canada’s top bowlers also call Fredericton LBC home including Pat Beggs, Jeff Mulherin, Eldon McLaughlin and Walter Steeves, all of whom have won gold medals at various Canadian Championships.

Situated in picturesque downtown Fredericton, it’s the city that owns and maintains the club while the club owns the equipment and maintains the club house.  Since it’s opening in 1991, the club has been an integral part of the community and continues to grow to this day.

With just less than a year before the event, Fredericton is already preparing itself to host the country.  Bowls New Brunswick Boulingrin has already selected its Mixed Pairs team for the Championship; mother and son combination of Chad and Diane Trites.  Chad, who is a former Canadian Men’s Gold Singles Champion, is sure to impress while playing with his Mom.
