Canada to Send Additional Players to World Youth Championships 2018

Bowls Canada Boulingrin is pleased to announce that Rob Law (MB) and Pricilla Westlake (BC) will be joining Cameron Lefresne (NS) and Carah Webster (BC) on the Gold Coast in February to compete against the world’s top youth bowlers. Lefresne and Webster earned the right to represent Canad
a by claiming the 2017 Canadian Under 25 titles in August. Law and Westlake were selected based on an opportunity provided by lawn bowls’ international federation World Bowls.
Westlake, the reigning World Youth Champion, is eager to defend her title at the Broadbeach Bowls Club in Gold Coast, Australia. Law, a member of BCB’s National Development Squad is looking to improve upon his performance at the 2017 World Youth Championships.
The 2018 event marks Webster’s international debut while this will be Lefresne’s second appearance at the event.
Broadbeach Bowls Club is also the bowls venue for the 2018 Commonwealth Games which will be hosted a few short weeks after the conclusion of the World Youth Championships. As nominated members for Canada’s 2018 Commonwealth Games team, Lefresne and Westlake are keen to use the World Youth Championships to gain as much experience as possible.
The World Youth Championships, formerly the World Junior Championships, are an annual outdoor event featuring men’s and women’s singles and mixed pairs.
Play will commence on Saturday, February 24th and conclude on Friday March 2nd, 2018.

About World Youth Championships
The World Youth Championships are an annual outdoor championship that features Men’s and Women’s Singles and Mixed Pairs events. Eligible athletes must have reached their 18th birthday but not reached their 25th birthday by the start of the event. The 2018 event will be hosted at Broadbeach Bowls Club in Queensland, Australia from February 24th – March 2nd.
