The 2018 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships are set to Begin in Regina, S.K.

Elite lawn bowlers from across the country will meet at the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, in sunny Regina, Saskatchewan to compete in the 2018 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships. Affectionately known as the “Majors”, this competition brings together the top bowlers from each province to compete in three different disciplines.
The men’s and women’s fours and pairs events will begin with round robin play on Thursday, August 23rd and will conclude with medal games on Sunday, August 26th. In addition to these four national titles, the coveted Cy English and the Lady Alexander trophies will also be up for grabs.
The Outdoor Singles competition gets going on Monday, August 27th and continue until Wednesday, August 29th. The winners of the Singles competitions will represent Canada at the 2019 World Champion of Champions event.
Throughout the week, there will be eight provinces represented with 120 competitors in the fours and pairs, and 48 competitors in the singles competitions. With many returning champions in the field, the competition is expected to be fierce.
Many of Canada’s top bowlers will be playing in Regina, including returning champions, Josephine Lee, Pricilla Westlake, Sarina Mak, and Gigi Chan who will be looking to defend their 2017 Women’s Fours title. As well, Brandon Watson (SK), Carter Watson (SK) and John Siteman (NS) who are fresh from the 2018 Youth Championships, will be looking to improve on their performances.
In the Singles event, Jerome Kirby (MB) will be looking to defend his 2017 title, while the likes of Pat Bird (AB), Jon Pituley (SK), and Paul Young (PEI) will be looking to stop him. On the women’s side, the field is sure to produce quality matches with Shirley Fitzpatrick-Wong (MB), Cindy Higgins (ON), and Harriette Pituley (SK) all vying for the title.
