BCB Launches Club Development Pillar and e-Learning Modules for all Clubs!
Bowls Canada Boulingrin is excited to announce the launch of the Club Development Pillar in Belonging in Bowls, a national campaign first released in May 2021.

Belonging in Bowls Program was developed for Canadian lawn bowling clubs and is the key to recruiting and retaining members. The first key objective of Belonging in Bowls is supported by a marketing strategy designed to raise awareness of bowls as a fun, challenging and welcoming sport and to promote clubs as places where everyone can be included and belong. The second key objective is backed by a series of resources designed to support clubs in the areas of Safe Sport implementation, effective club governance, accessibility, diverse and inclusive culture development, and effective marketing. This will allow clubs to build a solid foundation, or reinforce the current structures, to ensure they can pass the test of time.
While the focus of the Safe Sport Foundation is implementing safety measures and a positive sport environment at your club, the Club Development Pillar helps clubs strengthen their governance and operational structure. Requirements in this Pillar include implementing bylaws, role descriptions and training for all club executives/volunteers, developing an annual plan, and information to help your club decide whether to incorporate or not. The Club Development Pillar provides club volunteers and executives with resources, templates, and guides to help along the way! BCB has also created four free online e-Learning Modules that complement the Belonging in Bowls Program. All e-Learning Modules are accessible on BCB’s e-Store here!
The concept of the accreditation is fairly simple: meet certain requirements to complete each pillar (for a total of three), earn meaningful rewards as recognition for all your achievements, and work towards Belonging in Bowls accreditation. Through the national and local promotion of the Belonging in Bowls brand, Canadians will know that a lawn bowls club with Belonging in Bowls accreditation will meet a national standard of governance, programming, inclusion, and safety.
Visit www.belonginginbowls.ca today to explore the Belonging in Bowls catalogue and register for the program. If your club has already registered for the Safe Sport Foundation, make sure to sign up for the Club Development Pillar to get more details on how to access the Tool Kit! Every club affiliated with their Provincial Association is eligible to participate. Register for the Belonging in Bowls Accreditation here!
Stay tuned to the Bowls Canada website for updates on the release of the remaining pillars.
