This international event is the premier Para lawn bowls competition between national lawn bowling organizations. This event is held every four years and is sanctioned by the International Bowls for the Disabled (IBD) organization and recognized by World Bowls.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 event was canceled. However, the 2024 IBD World Championship has been officially announced to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa from May 18th to May 31st, 2024. Three para athletes have been selected to represent Canada based on selection criteria and performance in the Para discipline at the 2023 Canadian Championships.

Back our Bowlers Campaign

Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is running a campaign to encourage bowlers and the broader Canadian community to support the athletes heading to Johannesburg, South Africa to compete at the 2024 International Bowls for the Disabled World Championships. The three athletes selected to represent Canada at this hugely impactful international competition have been training hard as they prepare to bring their best to South Africa.
