Bowls Canada’s Official Announcement for New Chief Umpire
Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is excited to share that Dwayne Hauck has been appointed Chief Umpire. After a lengthy application process, are thrilled to make this official announcement regarding Chief Umpire.
Dwayne has worked with past Chief Umpire George Cubiss and shares, “George was a mentor and I promise to continue the legacy of competency, fair play, and laughter as BCB’s Chief Umpire”.
Dwyane has a robust history and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to officiating sports. He has a background as an International Official in both cycling and skiing which has allowed Hauck to work as an official at the highest levels of sport, including the Olympics, various World Championships, World Cups, Commonwealth Games, World University Games, and National Championships.
Specific to the sport of Lawn Bowls, Dwayne is in his tenth year in the sport. He has competed at BCB’s Canadian Championships (twice), as well as other events in New Zealand, the United States of America, and the Netherlands. Dwayne has been the Head Umpire for Bowls Alberta for the past 5 years, Head Umpire at two National Championships, and umpired an additional four championships. In addition to all his officiating experience, Dwayne is a National Technical Classifier for the International Bowls for the Disabled and helps with classifications at BCB’s Para Championships.
BCB would also like to thank George Cubiss for all his hard work, dedication, and integrity as he leaves the position of Chief Umpire. While he is passing the torch to another great candidate, we know that George will continue to actively engage in the sport, and we look forward to keeping up with all his lawn bowls success!
