Derek Dillon named as Bowls Canada National Assistant Coach

Bowls Canada is pleased to announce that Derek Dillon of Calgary, Alberta will be joining the staff team in the role of National Assistant Coach.
Dillon has a long-time involvement with both playing and coaching bowls. In addition to his coaching work with the Calgary Lawn Bowling
Club, he has been the Alberta Provincial Coach since 2016. Dillon has also been serving as a Bowls Canada Regional Coach since 2020 for the Prairies region.
A certified NCCP Performance Coach, Dillon has worked at the national level numerous times. He was named Head Coach for the 2019 and 2022 World Juniors team and has been named to the coaching staff for the 2018 North American Challenge, 2019 Asia Pacific Championships and 2019 Australian Multi-Nations Challenge.
Derek’s passion for lifelong learning is a natural fit with the pursuit of coaching. Always willing to share his knowledge and help others advance, he has been working as an NCCP Coaching Developer since 2017 and is currently working towards his Master Coach Developer status.
“Derek brings a number of coaching strengths to our team”, said High Performance Manager Don Caswell. “In addition to his technical expertise, his experience in the development of
individual performance plans and gap analysis will be a significant asset for our athletes.”

I hope to add value to the athletes as we continue to advance Canadian Bowls on the World stage.”

The National Assistant Coach position is a part-time position. Dillon begins his new role effective immediately.
