Hosts Named for the 2023 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships & Canadian Mixed Pairs Championships

Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is pleased to announce the dates and locations for the 2023 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships and Canadian Mixed Pairs Championships:

The Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships will feature 24 men and 24 women competing in Singles from August 18 – 21, followed by 120 athletes competing in men’s and women’s pairs and fours from August 22 – 26.

Juan de Fuca LBC are no strangers to hosting national events, having previously hosted the Championships in 2017 and 2009, as well as the Youth Championships in 2019. The four natural grass greens are part of a multi-sport facility developed for the 1994 Commonwealth Games. Jack Robertson, chair of the host organizing committee, said “Preparations for the Championships are already in the early stages and with the commitment of JDF members, along with assistance from our other ten Bowls South Island Clubs, our Host Organizing Committee aim to provide a welcoming, inclusive and rewarding experience for all Athletes, their Coaches, Volunteers, and Spectators who participate or take part.”

The Canadian Mixed Pairs Championships will feature up to 10 teams of two: one male and one female athlete and is one of BCB’s most popular national championships. After a lengthy hiatus due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadians will be returning to the Maritimes for the first national championship since 2017 to be hosted in Nova Scotia.

“We’re extremely excited to be bringing the Canadian Mixed Pairs Championship to the Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club for the first time,” said Ann Marie Siteman, co-chair of the host organizing committee. “Throughout our 136 years of lawn bowling on the historic Wanderers Grounds, our club has had a rich history of producing champions in our sport- whether through our members representing at the National and International level or hosting major championships right here at home. Bowlers from across Canada can expect a great week of championship bowls and good old fashioned maritime hospitality right in the heart of Downtown Halifax. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone in September 2023.” Siteman will co-chair the host organizing committee alongside Lena Cameron.

As the official awards and recognition supplier for BCB, Nothers The Award Store will provide all medals and awards for the event.
