Jane has been involved in programming and administration of para and blind sport for over 40 years. Her experience covers all stages of participation from beginning movement in infants, early motor learning, development of fundamental movement skills, PE, competition, high performance, and promotion of sport for a lifetime and healthy active lifestyles. Professionally she is the Executive Director of the BC Blind Sports and Recreation Association and for the 18 years up to 2022 also served as the CEO of the Canadian Blind Sports Association. She is co-author of the parent’s resource ‘Encouraging Physical Activity for Preschoolers with Visual Impairment’ as well as “Being a Sport Guide”; both published by BC Blind Sports. Jane’s values include ensuring programs and systems are safe, inclusive, enjoyable, ethically sound, equitable, and based on available evidence. Jane is enthusiastic about supporting research and resource development in the areas of para classification, para sport participant pathway development, and concussion in para athletes (in particular athletes who are blind or partially sighted).
