BCB Seeks Umpires for National Championships in Ontario

Bowls Canada Boulingrin is seeking qualified umpires to officiate as Head Event Umpire (HEU), Assistant HEU, and event umpires at multiple national championships.

HEU and Assistant HEU for Youth Championships – POSITIONS TO BE FILLED ASAP

HEU for Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships – George Cubiss

HEU for Mixed Pairs and Para-Bowls Championships – Nick Watkins

Interested officials can fill out the form here to confirm their interest in being selected to officiate at a national championship. The National Officiating Committee will review applications and officials will be contacted if selected. Preference will be given to officials who can attend events for their entire duration (Singles will be considered separately from the Pairs/Fours).

Umpires who are selected to officiate at national championships not only gain the benefit of experiencing Canada’s highest competitions, but will also see the following benefits:

  • Paid an honorarium of $30/round for Level 2 umpires; $20/round for Level 1 umpires
    • Level 1 umpires are considered assistants and must work directly with a Level 2 umpire
  • Meal plans for the event paid for
  • Mileage paid at a rate of $0.50/km for umpires travelling more than 25 km one way
  • Accommodations provided for out-of-town officials who are selected

Interested applicants should apply as soon as possible. The National Officiating Committee will make final decisions not less than 7 days prior to each event start date.
