Bowls Canada Boulingrin Names Ryan Stadnyk and Derek McKie as High Performance Program Team Managers

Veteran athlete and accomplished administrator to jointly support Canada’s national teams through landmark international cycle

Ottawa, ON – Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Stadnyk and Derek McKie as Team Managers for the organization’s High Performance Program. The two will divide responsibilities in support of Canada’s selected national teams across three major international competitions: the 2026 Commonwealth Games, the 2026 Atlantic International Challenge, and the 2027 World Championships.

“Ryan and Derek each bring a distinct and complementary set of strengths to these roles,” said Britany Gordon, CEO, Bowls Canada Boulingrin. “Together, they represent exactly the kind of experienced, passionate leadership our national teams deserve heading into this important cycle of international competition.”

Ryan Stadnyk
Ryan Stadnyk of Niagara Falls, Ontario, brings a distinguished playing career to the Team Manager role. A Commonwealth Games and World Championships representative, Stadnyk competed for Canada at the 2016 World Bowls World Championships, 2009 Atlantic Rim, and the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. As a former national team athlete, Stadnyk brings an intimate understanding of the demands placed on high-performance bowlers and the operational realities of major multi-sport events. He currently serves as Chair of the BCB High Performance Committee, a role that has deepened his commitment to the long-term development and success of Canadian lawn bowls on the world stage.

Derek McKie
Derek McKie of Woodstock, Ontario, brings a wealth of sport management and administrative expertise to the Team Manager role. A graduate of Brock University with both a Bachelor of Sport Management (Honours) and a Bachelor of Education, McKie has previously served as Executive Director of the British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee and has coordinated marketing, sponsorship, and operations for the Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club. He is also an Ontario Certified Teacher and has spent a decade in education, the majority of which serving as Athletic Director at Woodstock Trinity School. On the green, McKie began bowling in 2016 and quickly made his mark on the national stage. He has won six Ontario Championships and skipped his men’s fours team to a Canadian Championship in 2019. He has served on the BCB Board of Directors since 2002 and was a member of the BCB Development Committee prior to that.

Looking Ahead
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will mark a significant moment for Canadian lawn bowls, and BCB is committed to providing its athletes with the highest calibre of support staff to compete on the world stage. The 2026 Atlantic International Challenge and the 2027 World Championships further underscore the ambition of the High Performance Program in the years ahead.

“We are confident that Ryan and Derek will bring dedication, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the sport to every athlete they support,” added Gordon. “This is an exciting chapter for lawn bowls in Canada.”
