Canada Well Represented at Hong Kong International Bowls Classic

Hong Kong | November 8, 2014

Play begins today at the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic.  The event runs from November 8th-16th at the Craigengower Cricket Club, Hong Long Football Club and Indian Recreation Club.  The singles competition will take place during the first two days with pairs play beginning on Monday.

Canada is represented by Pat Bird of Calgary Alberta and Michel Larue of Blainville, Quebec.  Both Bird and Larue will play in the singles competition before pairing up to compete in the pairs event.

The pair arrived in Hong Kong a week ago to get adjusted to the time change and get some practice in before the tournament began.  They have both been thrilled with the experience thus far, “ we have been treated to some wonderful hospitality from the local clubs and are really excited to start playing today” said Bird.  “Both Michel and myself are looking forward to representing Canada and competing in this prestigious event.  We look forward to getting on the greens against some very strong local and international teams”.
