Junior and Under 25 Championships to Kick Off in Saskatchewan

Ottawa, Ontario | July 31, 2015

The Bowls Canada 2015 Junior and Under 25 Championships are set to begin at the Nutana Lawn Bowling club in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, August 4th.   The weeklong championship is sponsored by MVP Sports, a long-time contributor to advancing bowls in Canada.

The Junior competition will begin on Tuesday, August 4th and conclude with the medal rounds on Thursday, August 6th.  On Sunday, August 9th and Monday, August 10th, the Under 25 Championship will take place and there is bound to be a great deal of fierce competition.  The male and female winners of the 2015 Canadian Under 25 Championships will be nominated as a Canadian entry to the 2016 World Junior Championships hosted in Queensland, Australia.

In addition to winning the Junior and Under 25 championship titles; the inaugural Youth Development Squad will be determined during these Championships.  The top four young men and women placing at the Under 25 Championships and the top four male and female Juniors placing at the Junior Championships will be named to the Youth Development Squad for a one year term.  These athletes will be eligible for selection to national development events that may be run over the course of the year and may also be eligible for funding opportunities within their individual provinces.
